HAF Commemorates Coming-Out of Lesbians and Gays!

For the ninth consecutive year HAF will convene hundreds of lesbians, gays and transgendered Latino/as at Hostos Community College under the banner It’s time to come out …for love!

September 18, 2012, Bronx, NY – Continuing with its tradition of pioneering services to the Latino lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) community of New York City, the Hispanic AIDS Forum proudly announces the ninth annual coming out event, “It’s Time! . . . ¡Es El Momento!” in commemoration of National Coming Out Month.

“It’s Time! . . . ¡Es El Momento! is as much a celebration of diversity as it is an affirmation of our gender, our sexual orientation and our humanity. For the past nine years we have come together as one community united in our demand for equal rights and our quest for a more just society, where violence, hatred and discrimination are not tolerated”; said Heriberto Sánchez Soto, HAF’s Executive Director.

“It’s Time! . . . ¡Es El Momento!” will take place on Friday, October 12, 2012, from 7P-9P, at Hostos Community College, Main Theater, 450 Grand Concourse (Corner 149th Street), Bronx, NY1045. The event is packed with song, dance and comedy, including performances by Indira Rubiera, Alex Melendez, OutSalsa, House of Mugler, CoCo Productions, the Polynesian Dance Group, Vivika, and much more.

Mr. Pedro Julio Serrano, human rights activist and President of Puerto Rico Para Tod@s, a non-profit organization that strives for inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals and for social justice for all in Puerto Rico, will deliver the keynote address, providing a grounding view of the LGBT rights and encouraging the LGBT community to take a stand for their rights on this election year.

This year’s expected audience of 900 members of the LGBT community, their families and other allies will unite under one motto—it’s time to come out for love– regardless of sexual orientation and gender expression. Please call to reserve your seats. “It’s Time” is a free-of-charge event.
